Might I suggest the following Blitz Day shopping tips...

(for those of you who don't work for the evil empire, "Blitz Day," also known as "Black Friday," is the day after Thanksgiving)

1. Be kind to your cashier. It wasn't his/her fault that they ran out of the special item of the hour in ten minutes.
2. Offer your credit card to the cashier, especially if he/she doesn't ask to see it. It serves as a good reminder that we should be checking everyone to try to prevent theft of credit cards.
3. Don't give your credit card to your child to go do the shopping. We cannot accept credit card payment from anyone but the person whose name is on the card. Also along these lines, wives, make sure you have your card, not your husband's, when you leave the house.
4. At Wal-Mart, we can print your check for you. All you need to do is sign.
5. When paying by check, remember to make your driver's license available to the cashier so that he/she can see all of the information on it. Here in Pennsylvania our IDs are annoying because the number is at the top and is often hidden by the border on the ID holder window in your wallet.
6. If you change your mind about an item at the last minute, please give it to the cashier instead of leaving it on the shelves in front of or beside the registers. We'll gladly take it for you & make sure it is returned to it's correct place. This helps to keep the store looking neat and helps keep costs low by avoiding price confusion (the $20 DVD gets put on a $2 candy shelf and customer complains that the shelf where the DVD was found was marked $2... etc)
7. Try to check all of your items for price tags and/or ask someone in the department to help find a barcode/price before you get to the register.
8. Return shopping carts where you got them from. This is a particular pet peeve of mine. *rant* SHOPPING CARTS DO NOT GO AT THE END OF MY REGISTER! *rant* Shopping carts belong in the designated shopping cart area. It is a BAD PLAN to leave a shopping cart in the middle of a bunch of cash registers with lines. The cashier does not have time to put your cart away for you, nor is it his/her job to do so, and other people will not be able to exit if your cart is still in their way because, again, it is not their job to move it for you.
9. The exit greeter at Wal-Mart is not a cart boy. He, too, is not there to put your shopping cart away. He's SANTA CLAUS!!! Or, well, at my store he is, anyway. These people are old. They've lived a long time and worked hard and they just like to be around people. So they're there to wish you a good day and help out a little with security. Not to schlep around a bunch of shopping carts.
10. Wear pants. (this tip courtesy of Foid)

Happy Shopping!!
