journalists
The death of Pope John Paul II has changed my views on two journalists. I never liked Geraldo Rivera. I always thought he was a little sleezy with his talk show stuff... I was down-right disappointed when Fox hired him. On the other hand, I always kind of liked Katie Couric. She seemed to be a cute little woman with a lot of energy and she loves her kids and her late husband very much.
The other day, I caught a few minutes of Geraldo's coverage of the big news and I was pleasantly surprised with his panel and how they responded to his questions about Catholic teachings. I was doubly impressed that he didn't press the issues or try to manipulate their answers.
On the other hand, I heard this evening that Katie Couric managed to somehow weasel her way into a hallway in the Vatican and corner a cardinal, trying to ask how all of the cardinals were feeling, and pressing the issue when the cardinal said "no comment." I was told that she said "I'm not asking who they're going to vote for, I just want to know how they're feeling," or something similar to that. Ugh. Katie, dear, if what I heard is true, I really expected better. (note: I'm not finding anything to confirm or deny that Katie was the journalist involved in this little story I was told)
