Well, my first day at the new job went pretty well. It's a lot of information to learn but most of it is just stuff you have to learn as you go along & do things. The take-home HR paperwork is a killer though. I know NOTHING about 401k & insurance and all that junk.
I was pleasantly surprised to find a familiar face when I was at work today... one of the other women in my new department was the woman who trained me when I worked as a cashier at Boscov's. I'm also working with my cousin's former pre-school teacher. She seems like she'd be fun to carpool with, since we live sort of close to each other, but I don't think we'll be able to work it out to a regular thing. She has kids so she'll want to go in later in the morning to get them off to school & such, and the way we would have to drive to get to each other is pretty dangerous when the weather is bad.

Little things in life entertain me. I did a test run of the drive to and from work today. As I was on my way there, I saw a GIGANTIC sign in a field advertising that a Catholic church would soon be built on that site. So I was curious as to the current location of the parish and I was pleased to discover that it's within walking distance (less than a quarter mile) of my new job. They don't have Mass every morning (probably thanks to the priest shortage) but when they do it's at 7:30am. For the time being I'll have to be at work at that time, but after I'm done being trained or oriented or whatever they call it there, I'll have some flexibility with my schedule so I'm making my "new year's resolution" to go to Mass before work as often as I can.
On that note, I'm going to get a shower so I can go to bed early & be up in time for my first day at USIS.
